What is the Southern California H&I Intergroup?
It is made up of delegates from the Hospital and Institution committees and liaisons from General Service Areas within Southern California. It also liaisons with AA Contact on Release, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the Northern California Hospitals and Institutions Intergroup.
What is the purpose of H&I?
The sole purpose of an H&I committee is to carry the A.A. message to those confined in hospitals, jails, and prisons. The Intergroup exists to establish stronger unity among these committees and the agencies they work with, through the exchange of experience, strength, and hope.
Does the Intergroup govern the local committees?
No. The Intergroup is not a governing body and has no authority to make rules that would affect any individual Hospital and Institutional Committee that is a member.
How do I find the H&I committee in my area?
The Committees page lists the committees across Southern California, from Antelope Valley and Kern County to San Diego-Imperial and Temecula Valley, with meeting times, locations, and websites.
How do I get involved in carrying the message?
If you want to carry the message to men and women who cannot attend outside meetings, submit the form on the Contact page. The H&I committee will respond to you and forward your request to your local H&I Committee.
What is Contact on Release?
Contact on Release committees connect with members being released from institutions and hospitals and assist in finding their first meetings. There is no charge for this service; it is fully supported by volunteer members of H&I Committees. The request form is on the Contact on Release page.
Where are the guidelines and forms?
The Guidelines and Forms page has the Southern California H&I Intergroup Guidelines, the Southern California H&I Conference Guidelines, and the Contact Upon Release Request Form.
How do I submit an event or a flyer?
All committees are encouraged to submit information and flyers about upcoming H&I events through the Submit Events page. Events are listed solely as a service to our members, not as an endorsement by Southern California Hospitals & Institutions Intergroup.
When does the Intergroup meet?
The Intergroup holds a monthly hybrid meeting that members can attend in person or on Zoom. Dates, times, and locations are listed on the Schedule page.
